The movement towards halal products is not only happening in Islamic countries, but also in non-Islamic East Asian countries such as Japan, China, and South Korea. The demand for halal certification of products and services from these countries is very high, and in 2019, Japan ranked third after Singapore (first) and Thailand (second), on par with the UK and Taiwan in the Non-OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) ranking in the "Muslim Friendly Countries Ranking". Since this event, businesses in Japan have become more aware of the potential of the halal market, not only in Japan but also globally. Many Japanese companies want to export their products to Islamic countries such as Southeast Asia.
